It’s not too late to enjoy apple picking — and other pick-your-own or dig-your-own activities, like pumpkins and potatoes — at a number of Massachusetts farms, where the season typically lasts until late October or even into November.

Find 15 excellent farms below — just a small slice of the extensive orchard and farm collection in Massachusetts — with notes on pick-your-own crop schedules and other activities; many offer hayrides, barnyard animal petting and feeding, and other family-friendly fun that screams “autumn in New England.” (Is your favorite missing from the list? Put it on the Eater Boston team’s radar for consideration in the next update by emailing here.)

Be aware that activities at farms are heavily dependent on weather and other conditions, so hours and other details are subject to change. Since conditions can change day to day, it’s best to check directly with a specific farm for any applicable updates before making the trip. (Many keep their websites and/or social media accounts updated frequently and in great detail throughout the pick-your-own season; relevant links are provided below.)

Can’t make it this season? Mark your calendar for early summer 2022: Many of these spots also offer berry picking, which typically begins around June or July, depending on the berry.
