Union Street Restaurant and Bar

After cheering on runners along Heartbreak Hill, head to Union Street for burgers and beers on the restaurant’s sunny outdoor patio.

The Publick House

Get the mussels at the Publick House, and get a tasty Belgian beer, too.

Washington Square Tavern

You’ll have to cross Beacon Street to get to Washington Square Tavern from the Publick House (good luck with that), but once you’re there, try a spiced pear martini with a tableful of fried clams, calamari, and ice-cold oysters.

Bab Korean Bistro

Dig into cheesy rice cakes, scallion pancakes, and dumplings upon dumplings while watching the runners pass through Brookline.

Coolidge Corner Clubhouse

You know the drill: This is a good spot. It’s a sports bar, and running is a sport, so take a booze break here in the middle of watching a sport.

Audubon

Audubon is slick and sorta dark. Which is to say, it’s the perfect place to hole up with a drink while everyone else is out there running 26.2 miles. Chase it with a gochujang-slicked pulled pork sandwich, paired with kimchi slaw.

Cask 'n Flagon

The Cask ‘n Flagon is a bit off the route, but it’s adjacent to Fenway Park, and there are precious few things associated with Boston sports as iconic as the Red Sox and the Marathon, so it’s worth the extra walking.

Bukowski Tavern

If the insanity of Boylston Street isn’t your bag, head to Bukowski Tavern. It’s close enough to the mayhem to hear it all, but far enough away to not get lost in the shuffle.

Faccia a Faccia

A short walk from the finish line, swanky Italian spot Faccia a Faccia opens at 11 a.m. on race day. Grab an outdoor patio seat, a pitcher of grapefruit-spiked spritz, and settle in for the festivities.

Rochambeau

Located steps from the finish line on Boylston Street, French spot Rochambeau has a big outdoor patio for spectators, plus a special marathon menu that includes steak tartare, Bolognese, and steak frites. The front-row view of the runners is great; in other words, get there early to stake out a spot.
