NEWTON — Hip South End restaurant Stella closed in the first few months of the pandemic after a widely praised 16-year run. Now, chef Evan Deluty is bringing back the popular restaurant in a takeout-friendly format in Newton. For those who have been missing some of the greatest hits at Stella, a tightly curated selection of the favorites — including the famed Bolognese — are back on the menu at the tiny new spot. “I wanted to scale things down,” Deluty says. “For so many years, I’ve had a huge restaurant with 300 seats. I’m getting a little older. I can’t put in the 12 to 15 hour days anymore. I still want to do what I love but not have the 85 staff and doing 300 guests on a Saturday night.” Stella Newton is currently open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday through Sunday, with dinner service to follow.
