Umbria, the downtown Boston restaurant and lounge that partied its way through the ‘90s and early 2000s, is back — in the North End. Frank DePasquale, the prolific North End restaurateur behind neighborhood mainstays like Bricco, Mare Oyster Bar, and Trattoria Il Panino, has revived the multi-level dining and nightlife spot in what used to be Restaurant Fiore, a 22-year-old Italian place that shut down after service on December 25 last year. Named after the central Italian region, Umbria goes deep on meaty pastas and steaks, although there is a caviar-flecked raw bar to start the night, too. Umbria is open every day from 4 p.m. until 1 a.m.

In 2021, it made headlines for suing to stop an affordable housing development for low-income seniors adjacent to its patio on Washington Street. The brewery’s last day of operation is August 19, according to a closing announcement on Instagram.
