Passover begins this weekend, and the first Seder dinner will be held in the evening on Saturday, March 27. A number of local restaurants have created special menus to mark the holiday, but ordering deadlines have mostly come and gone.
That is not so for beloved Kendall Square delicatessen Mamaleh’s, however, which is offering a sprawling Passover menu available for pickup from Thursday, March 25 through Sunday, April 4.
For an à la carte Passover feast
Mamaleh’s menu includes dishes like braised beef brisket and roasted chicken, as well as a selection of beverages (for kids and adults), including Kedem concord grape juice, and a cocktail made with agricole rum and Manischewitz.
Mamaleh’s braised brisket ($30) serves two to four, while its roasted chicken thighs ($25) are marinated with harissa, and serve four. Eaters can add sides such as chopped liver (made with chicken livers and onions, and served with boiled eggs), whitefish salad, gefilte fish, potato latkes, and vegetarian kishke, to name a few.
In addition to the aforementioned cocktail, Mamaleh’s is offering other alcoholic beverages along with its Passover menu, including bottles of Manischewitz, Maraska Slivovitz brandy, and a cabernet sauvignon and Syrah blend from a winery in Galilee.
Dessert includes matzah toffee, various macaroons (coconut, raspberry, walnut, and chocolate), marble cheesecake, and flourless chocolate cake.
Unlike most takeout Passover menus in the area, the menu at Mamaleh’s can be ordered throughout the holiday week, and there are no pre-order deadlines, making it the perfect option for a last-minute Passover feast.
For more brisket and chicken
Watertown’s iconic beer bar and rotisserie chicken spot Branch Line is also offering a takeout Passover menu, however it is only available for pickup on April 3 and 4.
Like at Mamaleh’s, Branch Line’s menu is also à la carte, and includes brisket braised with red wine, tomatoes, and bay leaves ($95); rotisserie chicken ($28); matzah ball soup; and chopped liver pate, as well as several other options.
