Dunkin’ is about to add more matcha to its menu. Yes, Ben Affleck’s favorite restaurant already offers matcha in the form of hot and iced lattes, and starting February 24, the Massachusetts-based purveyor of massive iced coffees will add a blueberry flavored matcha latte and a glazed donut topped with matcha powder to its repertoire.
“Expanding our line of specialty drinks with matcha lattes last year created a whole new way to stay energized and refreshed at Dunkin’,” said Jill Nelson, vice president of marketing and culinary at Dunkin’, in a press release.
According to the press release, the blueberry matcha latte is made by “combining Dunkin’s sweetened matcha green tea powder blend with blueberry flavor and [our] guests’ choice of milk.” Mmmm, blueberry flavor. The matcha latte will be available hot, iced, and frozen.
The matcha doughnut is just a regular old Dunkin’ glazed (which, to be fair, can be miraculously good when fresh) topped with bright green matcha powder. The matcha powder is actual matcha powder — which is made with finely ground green tea leaves sourced in the Nishio region of Aichi prefecture, Japan — not matcha powder flavor.
