Chef and owner Will Gilson’s sprawling new three restaurant compound at Cambridge Crossing is now complete, with Geppetto opening today. The Italian restaurant — which Gilson called Geppetto to give it an “Italian-ish” vibe — opens alongside sibling restaurants Café Beatrice and the Lexington. And like its siblings, Geppetto is only offering takeout and delivery for the time being, though it plans to open its 74 seat dining room in the spring.
“We are so glad to give our guests a taste of the final piece of the Cambridge Crossing puzzle with the opening of Geppetto,” said Gilson in a press release. “We understand that in today’s current climate, the takeout and delivery options will give guests a sneak peek of what we are doing, food-wise, while we look to open our dining room at Geppetto up in the spring.”
Geppetto’s opening menu includes Sicilian-style pizza, a meatball sub, a braised pork and broccoli rabe sandwich, tortellini soup, lasagna, and more.
“Very produce-driven; really high-quality meats and fish; utilizing the amazing seafood out of local waters,” said Gilson. “I think we want to have a great selection of raw fish dishes on the Geppetto menu ... We’re not trying to harp too much on New-England-meets-Italy, but I think that there’s going to be some carryover from the style of food that we have at Puritan. We really want to be able to serve unique dishes that people will feel comfortable knowing are Italian but not necessarily what a tourist would be expecting to find in the North End.”
Orders can be placed on Geppetto’s website.
