A boutique hotel chain with properties across the United States, Europe, and Asia called Moxy Hotels (owned by Marriott International) opened a location at 240 Tremont St. in Boston’s Theater District, the Moxy Boston Downtown, on October 4, and it features a restaurant called Bar Moxy, as well as a rooftop bar and lounge. The latter is unfortunately only accessible to hotel guests.
Bar Moxy, open to the public, serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night bites, along with cocktails, beer, and wine. It also offers grab-and-go meals 24 hours a day, a fortunate addition for a city that has very few 24-hour restaurants. During the day, it’s meant to be a convenient workspace with wifi and outlets, and it offers board games, foosball, and other entertainment at night.
Bar Moxy’s food and beverage menus were developed by the Lyons Group (see also: Back Bay Social Club, Bleacher Bar, Sonsie, Loretta’s Last Call, Casa Caña, and many more). Lyons Group culinary directory Nick Calias oversees the menu, which includes dishes such as a breakfast pizza made with naan and topped with eggs, a Bavarian-style pretzel, and a charcuterie board.
Feeling envious of the hotel guests on the rooftop? Check out these open-to-the-public rooftop dining options around town. (Another new hotel will join the list in October — South Boston’s Cambria Boston Hotel will feature a restaurant called Six West with ground floor and rooftop dining, open to the public.)
Update, October 4, 2019: This article has been updated throughout to indicate that Moxy Boston Downtown and Bar Moxy are now open (as of today).
