Booze News, Boba Edition
Summer is not yet over; drink some fun cocktails. For the remainder of the season, BLR by Shojo (13A Hudson St., Chinatown, Boston) is offering a new special drink — boozy boba. There are three flavors available at $12 each: maple bourbon milk tea, rum matcha, and taro mezcal. Pair them with dishes like roasted bone marrow with scallion pancakes; pork belly wontons with black garlic and chili oil; duck confit mooshu; and Sichuan Bolognese.
Elsewhere in the drink-this-before-summer-ends file, here are 27 local bars and restaurants offering killer frozen cocktails.
Boston chefs and restaurateurs Ming Tsai and Ken Oringer are in the Bahamas as part of the Chef Relief Team for José Andrés’ nonprofit World Central Kitchen, helping serve meals to people on the hurricane-ravaged islands.
Locally, at least one restaurant is raising funds for Hurricane Dorian relief efforts: Citrus & Salt (142 Berkeley St., Back Bay, Boston) is serving a special frozen pineapple daiquiri ($12) through Friday, September 13, with all of its proceeds being donated. The drink is served in a novelty pineapple cup that customers can take home.

- Huron Village grocery store Fresh Pond Market (358 Huron Ave., Cambridge) — open for nearly a century — is set to close under its current ownership this weekend, as the brothers who own it are retiring. But the team behind nearby Formaggio Kitchen is apparently stepping in to take over, and it doesn’t sound like much will change. Stay tuned.
