A restaurant space in Somerville’s Union Square has quietly turned over, and the new place made its debut over the weekend. Yoi Sushi & Chinese Restaurant (16 Bow St.) opened Friday, August 23, with just the Chinese portion of its menu available to start — the sushi section will be available in September.

Yoi took over for Yuki Shabu, a hot pot restaurant that closed recently after operating in the neighborhood for about three years. The new restaurant will soon roll out its full menu, which includes various maki and hand rolls as well as poke bowls. For now, the menu consists of dishes like spicy chicken wings, ma po tofu, and various preparations of seafood, pork, chicken, and beef. There are also noodle dishes, fried rice entrees, and Sichuan-style dishes like fish filet or pork in spicy broth.

Yoi Sushi & Chinese operates for lunch and dinner, offering dine-in, delivery, and carry-out services. Keep apprised of details on the full menu rollout on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
