A bubble tea shop has opened near the Roxbury Crossing station in the Mission Hill neighborhood, and it brings with it the promise of cheese fries. Boba Me (1520 Tremont St., Boston) delivers bright milk teas colored red, purple, and yellow with flavors like strawberry, taro, matcha, and rose. Eventually, the shop plans to serve “flaming hot cheese fries,” too, according to its website. It’s an unlikely combo, to be sure, but on Boba Me’s colorful, quirky menu, a potential balance between soothing teas and fiery fries somehow fits.
The cafe sits on a crowded stretch of road by Roxbury Crossing, amid several other food and beverage establishments, including the recently opened Nachlo, which serves both Mexican and Pakistani food.
Inside Boba Me, white walls, tables, chairs, and counters make the bright teas pop. Options include milky tea beverages in 16- or 20-ounce sizes, with choices including black tea, oolong, mango blizzard, matcha, and brown sugar. There are also smoothies and classic green, black, and oolong teas (no milk). Customers can choose toppings like fruity pebbles, sprinkles, nuts, cookies, marshmallows, and coconut flakes. Boba Me also serves vanilla and ube ice cream.
Owner Thomas Pham runs Boba Me with his siblings, adding to an already strong range of bubble tea options in the Boston area that reaches from Chinatown to Allston to Quincy. The cafe opened August 10 and currently operates daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
