A panini restaurant that may have roots in Montreal appears to be on the verge of opening a location in Boston. Panini Sante has hung signage on the facade of the building at 1244 Washington St. in the South End, across from Peters Park, and the restaurant’s mostly bare website indicates that it plans to open at that address “very soon.” The business petitioned the City of Boston’s Licensing Board in October 2018 for its common victualler license.
The city has posted a sign in the window indicating that a building permit has been issued for the property:

Based on Panini Sante’s name, website, and posted signage, it’ll be serving a variety of pressed panini with side salads.
It’s unclear if the apparently linked Montreal restaurant by the same name (and with the same logo) is currently open; its Facebook page hasn’t been active since 2012, the website to which it hyperlinks is no longer active, and it has a single Yelp review from 2013. The manager on record for the Boston location, Brahim Fennouny, does have links to Montreal, per Facebook, and the Boston restaurant’s website notes that it serves “Canadian food.”
Keep an eye out in the South End for panini soon. The restaurant may operate from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily once it opens, per its petition to the licensing board.
Repeated attempts to reach the restaurant have been unsuccessful, but this story will be updated if more information becomes available. In the meantime, sandwich-loving South End folks can visit the neighborhood’s other brand new sandwich option, Sally’s Sandwiches, located inside Blackbird Doughnuts on Tremont Street.
