Southie is getting a vegan restaurant; Southie continues its march into a future that looks very different from its past. Lulu Green plans to open this fall in the space at 246 West Broadway formerly occupied by Shredded, the ill-fated salad and noodle bowl joint that opened and closed in the same calendar year.

Lulu Green’s nascent Yelp page, which includes some official information and photos from the business, indicates that it will be a vegan cafe, bakery, and juice bar.

The restaurant’s Instagram account, which has been active for more than a year, has posted dishes that include hummus with brown rice, charred broccolini, cherry tomatoes, micro greens, and beet juice pickled turnips; vegan shakshuka with avocado and tofu; and tabouli made with quinoa and cherry tomatoes.

Keep an eye out for this new source of vegan fare (possibly including vegan ice cream) in the fall.
