Berklee College of Music benefits from a baked good bonanza today as Tatte Bakery & Cafe unveils its 13th location. The local bakery took over the space previously occupied by Back Bay Beats, aka B3, which closed in November 2018, and has filled it with its signature white tiling, sprawling pastry cases, and skillets of shakshuka.

Founder Tzurit Or is on a journey to bakery domination, thanks in part to support from Ron Shaich, a Panera founder who has since left the chain and concentrated his development focus on small but growing chains in the Boston area. (He’s also involved in Life Alive, which recently opened a restaurant in Back Bay.)

Tatte’s Berklee location is just one in a series of forthcoming projects from Or and her team, including expansion to D.C. and the opening of a massive production space, test kitchen, and cafe in South Boston.

Tatte Berklee (160 Massachusetts Ave.) is open for business as of Wednesday, July 10, at 7 a.m., with the familiar lineup of croissants, tarts, egg dishes, coffees, and teas on the menu. The menu rotates some items seasonally, and it’s peak summer season right now, with cherry- and strawberry-filled pastries, garden vegetable salads, and more.
