Second Cup Coffee Company (97 Causeway St.) has opened its doors in Boston, steps away from TD Garden. The coffee shop is part of a Canadian company, which was founded in 1975 as a shopping mall kiosk and has since grown to operate cafes around the world, including four locations in the United States.
This is Second Cup’s first location in New England, adding to others in Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Florida. The cafes serve a selection of coffee and espresso beverages, plus tea, lemonade, and frappes. There are also frozen yogurt parfaits, pastries, bagels, fruit, and more.
Second Cup joins a handful of other establishments in serving cafe fare to the neighborhood, including several Dunkin’ (formerly known as Dunkin’ Donuts) locations. Cuppacoffee, a local group of cafes with a bend towards Australian menu items like flat whites and hand pies, operates nearby on Merrimac Street, and Bourbon Coffee recently opened in the West End, taking over for Boston Common Coffee Company on Canal Street. Plus, there’s a George Howell location inside Boston Public Market.
