A tiny but popular sandwich shop in Boston’s Bay Village neighborhood will join the ranks of a forthcoming food hall in downtown Boston this fall. Mike & Patty’s (12 Church St.) will open at High Street Place (100 High St.), High Street Place announced in an Instagram story over the weekend, and it will be serving sandwiches and some “surprises.”
The new location won’t be an exact replica of the cozy corner shop — in fact, the High Street Place space will give Mike & Patty’s a little more room to work in than at the intimate original location, which has just enough room for a handful of people to order and wait for their sandwiches.
“It will be an iteration, meaning that it will be an M&P but won’t be identical since we’ll have more space to work with,” the Mike & Patty’s team told Eater. “It’s very exciting! We think High Street Place is going to be an amazing project.”
This won’t exactly be the first food hall rodeo for Mike & Patty’s owners Mike Gurevich and Ania Zaroda. They also operate Hot Box, a roast beef and bar pizza stall at Somerville’s food hall-esque Bow Market. (On weekend mornings, Hot Box serves some Mike & Patty’s sandwiches, too.)
While it’s too early to announce an official menu for the forthcoming location, Mike & Patty’s is known for its sandwiches like “the Fancy” (fried eggs, bacon, cheddar, avocado, red onions, and mayo on toasted multigrain) and a mushroom Swiss Impossible Burger. The team told Eater that the new location would have a “similar but different menu with some surprises.”
High Street Place is on track to open this fall downtown. Mike & Patty’s joins an already vast list of future vendors there, including two new restaurants from Tiffani Faison of Sweet Cheeks, Tiger Mama, and more; new locations of Mother Juice and Pennypacker’s; a cocktail bar from Eater Boston’s 2015 Bartenders of the Year, Hojoko alums Daren Swisher and Joseph Cammarata; a new location of downtown burger joint Wheelhouse as well as a fried chicken spot from the same team; and more.
High Street Place is set to be the second Boston food hall opening this year; Time Out Market Boston is opening imminently in Fenway, and more food halls are on the way in 2020 and beyond.
