Cambridge brewery Lamplighter Brewing debuts its new coffee operation Monday, June 10. Pepita Coffee picks up where the brewery’s former cafe, Longfellows, left off when it closed earlier this month, and now the coffee corner of the brewery will also be filled with tacos.
Much of the Longfellows staff stayed on to run Pepita, which falls under the leadership of Lamplighter founders Cayla Marvil and AC Jones. In the turnover, the menu now features four generously sized breakfast taco options, plus an avocado tostada and various pastries and snacks like banana rum coffee cake, jalapeño cornbread, and a Vietnamese coffee popsicle.

The coffee operation inside Lamplighter began when the brewery opened its taproom in late 2016. Longfellows founder Alisha Fowler ran the cafe, serving breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and Bagelsaurus bagels on Fridays, along with rotating coffee roasts, lattes prepared with house-made syrups, and more. Fowler closed Longfellows on June 2, and she and her family will relocate to New Jersey.
Now, Pepita is ready to take up the mantle, and its coffee beverages feature their own blend of creativity. Options range from a coquito slushie with espresso, cinnamon, and coconut to spicy chocolate mochas, sparkling limeade, and a beverage that overlaps with the beer operation: Micheladas made with lime, juice, spice, and Lamplighter beer will be available each day starting at 11 a.m. through the bar.
Take a look at the full food and drink menu below, and catch Pepita Coffee from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
