A local cupcake chain has closed down its remaining physical locations, one temporarily, though it will continue accepting online and call-in orders. Sweet Bakery’s stores in downtown Boston and Chestnut Hill are now closed, though owner Katia Pekar aims to reopen the downtown location (11 School St., Boston). A candy shop called Chill Sugar Co. has just taken over the Chestnut Hill space.

Sweet Bakery previously operated a location in Cambridge’s Harvard Square, but that store closed down in January. At the time, Pekar told Eater she hoped to return to the square, noting that lease negotiations for a space in the same building would start from scratch. There also used to be two locations in Back Bay — one on Newbury Street and one on Massachusetts Avenue — but they closed several years back.

Pekar, reached Thursday, said Sweet will continue fulfilling online orders and has partnered with New City Microcreamery in Cambridge’s Central Square for pickups.

Sweet’s stores offered an ever-changing menu of cupcake flavors, along with seasonal specialties, holiday cupcakes, and catering services for cakes and cupcakes.
