A casual pizza place near Boston’s City Hall has closed down. New Jersey-based 1000 Degrees Neapolitan Pizza shuttered its 45 Court St. restaurant; there are reportedly signs up indicating that the closure is permanent, and the location no longer appears on the chain’s website.
The restaurant first opened in August 2017, the first and only Massachusetts location of the 1000 Degrees chain, which has locations in numerous states around the country. 1000 Degrees restaurants operate with a counter-service setup that allows for Chipotle-style customization, similar to other fast-casual pizza spots like Blaze Pizza and Crush Pizza (which both have Boston-area locations).
Named for the temperature at which its pizzas cook, 1000 Degrees serves pizzas cooked for two minutes in a brick oven. It also serves a selection of salads, wings, and bread sticks. The closest remaining locations of the chain are in Lisbon and Glastonbury, Connecticut.
