A long-awaited expansion is almost complete: Sweet Rice will open its second location in early May, bringing its menu of Thai food and sushi from Charlestown to Jamaica Plain. It will occupy the space at 697 Centre St., Boston, left vacant by Wonder Spice Cafe.
Sweet Rice will serve beers from Thailand, Japan, and the United States, along with a selection of wine and sake, and the restaurant’s dining room will be able to accommodate almost 50 diners, owner Pichai Chairatthanawanit told Eater via email.
“I lived in JP for a few years and love the energy, diversity, and great sense of community JP has to offer — that’s the reason why we chose JP as our second location,” Chairatthanawanit told Eater last year. “When we found out that Wonder Spice was for sale, we were so excited as the location and the size are exactly what we were looking for.”
When the new Sweet Rice debuts, it will operate Monday through Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for lunch and from 4:00 p.m. to 9:30 for dinner; Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday from noon to 9:30 p.m., serving exclusively the dinner menu.
