Ripple Cafe is now open in Dorchester’s Ashmont section, where it took over the former Flat Black Coffee Company space at 1906 Dorchester Ave. After spending a year popping up with a coffee cart inside a Codman Square restaurant, Ripple owners James Guerrier and Elle Ducheine ran a crowdfunding campaign to help create a permanent home for the cafe in the Dorchester Avenue space (Flat Black closed that location over the summer.) Ripple Cafe officially opened on February 28.

The duo signed a three-year lease on the space, which sits close to the Ashmont MBTA station. Ripple Cafe serves Counter Culture coffee, either hot or iced, plus tea and pastries.

Guerrier and Ducheine also plan to partner with local businesses and social ventures in the future, and they aim to provide a living wage for all staff, along with training and growth opportunities. They also hope to invest in the community “through charitable tithing of the business profits to local civic and non-profit organizations engaged in work consistent with [their] values,” according to the GoFundMe page they launched last year.

Ripple Cafe is currently operating from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, and closed on Sundays (for now).
