Popular Allston-Brighton izakaya Ittoku (1414 Commonwealth Avenue, Boston) is selling its liquor license to a forthcoming restaurant called Jongro BBQ, which will move into its space. Ittoku isn’t closing for good, however — it’s just moving across the river to Cambridge’s Porter Square.
Kevin Alarcon, who manages Ittoku, told Eater via email that the restaurant plans to reopen at 1815 Massachusetts Ave. sometime in May or June, though he said an exact date hasn’t been decided on yet. Ittoku will have a full liquor license at the Cambridge location.
The overall izakaya concept will remain intact (an izakaya is a casual Japanese pub), but the second iteration of Ittoku will feature some changes, according to Alarcon. Ittoku plans on rolling out some of its new dishes at the Japan Festival Boston, which will take place on April 27 and 28 on Boston Common.
Stay tuned for updates on a timeline for the Ittoku move and details on the forthcoming Jongro BBQ. In the meantime, Ittoku remains operational in Allston-Brighton with a menu full of yakitori, sushi, and lots more.
