Brighton will get a bit doughier this week as Blackbird Doughnuts prepares to open its newest location and production space at 100 Holton St. near Star Market, a 5,600-square-foot behemoth. The doughnut shop — which operates three locations (in Boston’s South End and Fenway neighborhoods and Cambridge’s Harvard Square) — teased the impending opening on social media over the weekend and later announced that it will open at 7 a.m. on Thursday, March 7. Look for it at bay four on the backside of the building.

This expansion will give Blackbird even more capacity for producing doughnuts for its growing number of stores, and the growth may leave the original South End production space open for some “fun stuff,” according to the teaser post on Facebook, which promises more details at a later date.

Owner Rebecca Roth Gullo — who is also behind South End restaurants the Gallows and Banyan — announced the expansion to Brighton this past summer, when Blackbird was on the verge of opening its third location within Harvard’s renovated Smith Campus Center, alongside several other food and beverage establishments.

Blackbird first opened in the South End in 2015 and expanded to Fenway in 2017.

Update, March 7, 2019: This story has been updated to include an exact opening date for the new Blackbird Doughnuts and additional details on where to find it.
