The Beehive Crew Is About to Bring Tacos and Boozy Slushies to the South End

Here’s a sneak peek at the menu and design of Cósmica, opening imminently at the Revolution Hotel

The team behind South End mainstay the Beehive and its younger Harvard Square sibling, Beat Brew Hall — Jack Bardy, Jennifer Epstein, and Bill Keravuori — is on the verge of opening a new restaurant in the South End, this time focusing on Mexican cuisine.

Cósmica will open its doors on February 6, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. at the Revolution Hotel (40 Berkeley St., Boston), with Colton Coburn-Wood at the helm of the kitchen. An alum of Dorchester’s popular Yellow Door Taqueria and Ken Oringer’s now-defunct Fenway taqueria La Verdad, Coburn-Wood will be showcasing his longtime taco enthusiasm with options such as duck carnitas with mole verde and fried plantains; chicken chorizo with cheesy ancho yucca mash; cauliflower al pastor with chipotle pineapple yogurt; and more. In addition to tacos, there will be dishes like chorizo queso-stuffed jalapeno poppers; Yucatan-style cochinita pibil; and a tomahawk asada.

To drink: boozy slushies and sangria, some Mexican beers, a mezcal margarita, seasonal agua frescas (with and without alcohol), and more. (See the full opening dinner and drinks menus below.)

Here’s a sneak peek inside the space, designed by Boston-based Sousa Design and Dave “Dave-O” Olson. It’s meant to highlight the restaurant’s historical mid-century building while still having a modern, energetic feel.
