A bakery at Boston Public Market that accommodates allergies and vegan diets plans to expand to Central Massachusetts. With some help from crowdfunding, Jennifer Lee’s Bakery (100 Hanover St., Boston) aims to expand to Worcester, where founder Jennifer LaSala hopes to reach more customers with her allergen-free baked goods.
LaSala started her business in 2011 at the age of 17, transitioning the operation into an allergy-friendly bakery in 2015. All of her baked goods are vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, peanut-free, and sesame-free, and nearly all items also avoid soy and coconut. LaSala secured a temporary spot in Boston Public Market in 2016, later joining the permanent landscape of the popular establishment. Since then, LaSala has expanded the bakery menu to include breads, bagels, sandwiches, and waffles, among other items.
Now, LaSala has a location in the works for Worcester and has launched an Indiegogo campaign to raise $10,000 to help fund the buildout of the space. The location will be larger than her operation in Boston, allowing LaSala to offer vegan and allergy-friendly cooking classes and host events while reaching a wider audience. The campaign will run through February. Keep up with progress on Jennifer Lee’s social media.
