New Mission Hill Cafe Serves All-Day Breakfast

A new cafe is now up and running in Mission Hill. Solid Ground Cafe (742 Huntington Ave.) has been in the works for more than a year, and owners Lucia and Keith Patrick are ready to share the final product with the neighborhood. The cafe is already open this week but will hold a grand opening celebration on January 28.

The Patricks have both been in the food industry for many years and have lived in Mission Hill for about 10 years, according to Lucia Patrick.

“We just wanted to open a neighborhood spot,” Patrick told Eater. “Mission Hill needs this, I think. We have 18 seats here, so people can definitely sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal,” she said.

Solid Ground serves breakfast all day and has a lunch menu with sandwiches and salads available starting at 11 a.m. The cafe serves Speedwell Coffee, a small-batch roaster out of Plymouth, for its coffee and espresso beverages.

Patrick said the community has been supportive of Solid Ground, with people stopping in over the last year to check on progress and express their excitement. Since the indefinite closure of Green T Coffee Shop a few doors down, the Brigham Circle area has been short on local coffee shops, aside from J.P. Licks and a Dunkin’ Donuts.

This week, Solid Ground will operate from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. (weekdays only). Following its grand opening, the cafe’s full hours will include Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
