Popular fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant Aceituna Grill is expanding to Boston’s Financial District. The new restaurant — which will be located at 100 Federal St., aka the Exchange — will be the company’s third, joining outposts in the Seaport and in Cambridge’s Kendall Square (the original location, which has been open for about 15 years).
The Aceituna Grill team decided to expand because lines have been out the door at the Seaport and Kendall Square locations, and because they see a clear demand in the Financial District, a representative for the restaurant told Eater via email. “We have many catering clients in the Financial District, and even people who walk over to Seaport to eat at Aceituna, so we know there is high demand there. We listen to our clients.”
The new restaurant will have indoor and outdoor seating, and it will be able to accommodate 200 diners. And those diners will have the luxury of eating things like shawarma and fattoush while sitting in a lush atrium surrounded by flora. (The glassy atrium is also home to Blue Bottle Coffee, which opened in May.)
The counter-service restaurant features rice plates, pita roll-ups, and salads made with shawarma or falafel, along with a variety of sides, desserts, and non-alcoholic beverages.
Aceituna hopes to open sometime in the late fall, and that’s not all that the neighborhood has to look forward to: A massive food hall could open sometime in the spring, steps away from the Exchange.
