Revere Now Has Easy Access to Barbecue-Filled Pastry ‘Bombs’

A Boston-area food truck recently expanded its reach with a brick-and-mortar restaurant in Revere. Da Bomb BBQ (744 Broadway St.) is now open and serving a lineup of fully-loaded sandwiches, “bombs” (filled pastry dough rounds), mac and cheese, and more.

Founded by Meghan Fitzgerald, Da Bomb BBQ is a spinoff of her food truck, Da Bomb, which first appeared at an Oktoberfest celebration in Malden last year serving pastries stuffed with all manner of fillings, including burger meat, egg and cheese, and chicken apple sausage. Now, with Da Bomb BBQ, Fitzgerald carries on some of her “bomb” dishes while adding even more barbecue sandwiches, sides, and appetizers to the mix.

The restaurant’s menu runs the gamut from beef and bean chili to chicken pickle bombs, with chicken wings, fried pickles, and loaded tater tots in the mix as well. Sandwich options include barbecue pulled pork, a cheeseburger, and a smoked chicken club, all served with a choice of side (think corn bread, potato salad, or baked beans). Da Bomb also goes full barbecue with half or full rib racks, brisket, bacon-wrapped smoked chicken breast, and baked mac and cheese.

Fitzgerald is an alum of Boston’s Jacob Wirth, a longstanding German-style beer hall that is run by her family. Jacob Wirth was put up for sale earlier this year and is temporarily closed following a fire. Facing a potential eviction, the exact status of its future remains unknown.

Meanwhile, Fitzgerald’s Revere restaurant is serving barbecue six days a week, operating Tuesday through Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m., Friday from 3 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The restaurant also offers delivery and takeout, and the truck remains on the road as well — check Instagram for updates on its whereabouts.
