A casual Mediterranean restaurant with a location in downtown Boston will expand to West Roxbury, opening within the former space of a fast-casual burger restaurant. Bonapita will take over the space at 77 Spring St., serving up house-made pitas stuffed with vegetables, meats, sauces, and nothing fried.
The original restaurant opened at 49 Franklin St. in 2014, and now its expansion is underway on Spring Street, where Bonapita signage now dominates the former Burger Fi space. When it opens, the counter-service restaurant will offer its familiar menu of Mediterranean dishes, including pita sandwiches, platters, and salads.
The pitas are made in-house daily and come with chopped vegetables, tahini sauce, and spicy tomatoes, plus a choice of chicken, meatballs, black bean and beet patties, or mushrooms and lentils. Those same items are available alongside rice with caramelized onions and veggies, or tossed with greens and a lemon oil dressing. Additional sides include hummus and chips.
Like many downtown restaurants, Bonapita operates its Franklin Street location on weekdays only from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., but the company hasn’t yet announced hours for the forthcoming West Roxbury location. Stay tuned for updates, and watch for an opening around September.
