Udon options are expanding in the Boston area: The recently opened Yume Ga Arukara in Cambridge specializes in the Japanese noodle, while a Japan-based udon chain, Tsurutontan, will open in Kenmore Square. And yet another new udon restaurant is also on the way, courtesy of the folks behind a Connecticut-based sushi place that has one Boston restaurant.

Love Art Udon, the forthcoming sibling to Love Art Sushi, is slated to open at 1024 Commonwealth Ave. and will serve udon with a familiar fast-casual structure. The bowls will start with a scratch-made udon base, a choice of broth, crispy tempura, and additional pickled vegetable toppings.

Before the opening, udon fans will have a few opportunities to get acquainted with Love Art Udon. Co-owners Jessica Chiep and Ronald Liu plan to offer previews of the udon bowls through pop-ups at big sibling Love Art Sushi on August 4 and 5, serving samples on both days from 12 to 4 p.m.

They will also appear at Remnant Brewing in Somerville’s Union Square on August 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. and at Lamplighter Brewing Company on August 15 from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Keep a eye on the Facebook event pages for each for previews of the abbreviated pop-up menus.

Chiep and Liu opened Love Art Sushi in 2017 and announced their Love Art Udon spinoff earlier this year. The restaurant could open at the end of August or early in September.
