A popular dive bar and dance club in Dorchester is making changes to its name and more. On July 11, Peggy O’Neil’s (1310 Dorchester Ave.) petitioned the Boston Licensing Board to change its name to Blend, and the licensing board approved the name change.

Peggy O’Neil’s is also undergoing a few cosmetic changes, both inside and out, the bar’s social media contact told Eater.

“Not [a] full renovation, but it’s getting cleaned up inside,” said the social media contact. “New bar top, craft beer system. We’re staying with our comfort foods — burgers and tips — but adding some new stuff as well. Everything needed freshening, so it was time. We’re still keeping that pub vibe and our monthly dance events.”

Peggy O’Neil’s is currently shuttered temporarily to accommodate the changes being made. It will open again this Friday, July 27, but may have to close again for a week in August to finish renovations to the interior.
