A collaborative food, drink, music, and art event series, Create Boston, is getting a permanent home at Somerville’s growing Bow Market this fall. Create founder Louis DiBiccari — chef and co-owner of now-shuttered Fort Point destination Tavern Road and hummus-obsessed mastermind behind the latest Wink & Nod culinary incubatee Humaari — is currently crowdfunding his way toward the upcoming opening of Create Gallery & Cocktail Lounge in Union Square.
Create began six years ago, DiBiccari writes on his Indiegogo campaign page, noting that it started as a “simple idea...rooted in collaboration, community, and celebration” meant to showcase Boston’s best chefs, bartenders, artists, and musicians. In its forthcoming brick-and-mortar form at Bow Market, Create will continue working on the same mission — to “develop a larger platform for artists” — by offering 45- to 60-day residencies for artists with various themes and collaborations, social media promotion, and the opportunity to sell art.
And there will be cocktails, too — all draft — from collaborations with bartenders from Boston and beyond. DiBiccari notes that there will always be a Tavern Road cocktail on the menu in memory of beverage director Ryan McGrale, who passed away in 2015.
When Create opens, look for it on the second level of Bow Market, but bring up some snacks from the ground level from vendors like Buenas, Jaju Pierogi, Maca, and lots more. (Or pre-game with a beer at Remnant Brewing or wine from the soon-to-open Rebel Rebel.) The “charming”-sized space will fit about 20 people.
Donors who help fund the Indiegogo campaign will earn rewards like tickets to Create events, prints from local artists, private cocktail classes, and more. Stay tuned for updates as an opening date draws closer.
