Food vendors are opening one by one at Somerville’s new Bow Market in Union Square. With Buenas making its debut last Thursday, this week’s addition is Jaju Pierogi, run by sisters Casey and Vanessa White.
Jaju threw open the doors to its Bow Market storefront on Wednesday, June 27, offering a special Buffalo chicken pierogi in addition to familiar flavors like potato and cheese and sweet potato with caramelized onion. The White sisters launched Jaju in 2015 and have spent the last few years selling their Polish dumplings at brewery pop-ups, pizzerias, and other establishments around Greater Boston. They hand-make the pierogies in Lynn and will continue running pop-ups even as the Somerville location operates year-round.
Those familiar with Jaju through its appearances at local breweries like Lamplighter and Trillium will still be able to get beer alongside pierogies: The open format of Bow Market means visitors can grab a handful of the Polish dumplings and pair them with a pint from Remnant Brewing. For dessert after pierogies and beer, Maca is also open, selling colorful French macarons, and soon a full smorgasbord of food and drink options — from Tanám and Rebel Rebel to Hooked, Gâté Comme des Filles, and a Mike & Patty’s sibling called Hot Box — will join in as well.
Starting out, Jaju will operate Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday from 4 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with hours subject to change before solidifying in July.
Update, 6/29, 9 p.m.: This story has been updated to reflect new hours and Jaju’s pierogi-making base in Lynn.
