A juice wave that started rolling through Boston a few years ago reaches a new neighborhood this week with the opening of Cafe Juiceup in Mattapan (1290 Blue Hill Ave., Boston). The cafe is run by Denise O’Marde, according to city licensing documents.
Cafe Juiceup will hold a grand opening on Saturday, June 30, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, $5 smoothies, music all day, free samples, and raffles. Individuals who follow the shop on Facebook and Instagram will be able to get a smoothie for $2.
While the cafe has not shared its official menu online yet, posts on social media tease possible menu items, like a mango and strawberry smoothie. Eater has reached out for more details on the menu and opening.
Boston started seeing an expansion of juice and smoothie shops in late 2014, and it’s a trend that’s kept going strong since then (unlike frozen yogurt). New shops serving a mix of fruit and vegetable smoothies, bowls, and cold-pressed juices continue to open, with recent additions including Juicygreens (61 South St., Boston) in Jamaica Plain. A similarly health-minded shop called Carrot Flower is also on the way to JP.
