A new sushi restaurant just arrived in Mission Hill on a stretch of road that already boasts a healthy selection of restaurants. Sushi Today opened at 1562 Tremont St. near Brigham Circle, right on the border of the Fenway neighborhood. The business is run by RunHua Zhu, who has about six years of experience working with sushi.
Sushi Today’s vast menu includes two-piece sushi and three-piece sashimi options that are available a la carte, plus appetizers like avocado salad and miso soup and a host of entrees. There are several options for sushi don — sliced raw fish or vegetables over a bowl of sushi rice — including yellowtail and eel, and there is a wide selection of both simple and signature maki rolls.
The restaurant also offers various lunch specials, including a five- or nine-piece chef’s choice option for $9.50 to about $12, a 16-piece sushi and sashimi combo option for $14.95, and maki roll combinations for $8.50 to $12.25, depending on the types of rolls. For bigger groups, there are party specials that come with anywhere from 12 to 30 pieces of sushi or sashimi, plus miso soup.
Sushi Today joins several other restaurants on Tremont Street in Mission Hill, including Flann O’Brien’s, the Puddingstone Tavern, Tremont House of Pizza, and J.P. Lick’s. It is open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.
