A vegetarian restaurant with three locations in Cambridge, Salem, and Lowell just opened a fourth on the campus of Boston University. Life Alive (888 Commonwealth Ave., Brookline) debuted this week in the former Panera Bread space near the BU Bridge, an employee at the Cambridge restaurant confirmed.
Like at the other locations, the new Life Alive on Comm. Ave. accepts online ordering, a benefit for diners who like to plan ahead when picking out their grain bowls, smoothies, and wraps.
Life Alive had been in the market for a new location for several months before securing the space Panera vacated when it closed in May 2017. The restaurant previously considered expanding in late 2013 and again in mid-2015.
Vegetarian and vegan options abound on Life Alive’s menu, which includes a surplus of raw foods like salad bowls and warm grain bowls topped with vegetables, along with wraps filled with everything from cheese, hardboiled eggs, and veggies to bananas, jam, and peanut butter. There are also smoothies, soups, tea, coffee, and juices.
The new location operates next door to Otto Pizza and down the street from Chipotle, Sunset Cantina, and several other restaurants.
