Black Sheep Bagel Cafe (56 JFK St., Cambridge), a bagel shop with an adorable mascot, opened over the weekend, filling Harvard Square with bagel sandwiches, cream cheese, and coffee.

Founders Shoshanah Garber and Manny Ramirez spent several months building out the space, painting the exterior, and preparing a small patio, in addition to building the tables used inside the shop.

Black Sheep has been showing off some of its menu items on Instagram, including more than a dozen bagel varieties, ranging from wheat oat and cinnamon raisin to tomato rosemary, chocolate chip, and everything. Cream cheeses are made in-house, including a veggie version with carrots and bell peppers.

Black Sheep also serves its own take on avocado toast (served on a bagel, of course), a caprese bagel with tomato and mozzarella, and what it calls Lox 2.0, an open-faced bagel with scallion cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber, and dill. For its coffee, Black Sheep sources beans from Rao’s Coffee.

“All of our partners are going to be local vendors from the Greater Boston area,” Garber previously told Eater. “It’s very important to us to stay as local as we can.”

Black Sheep Bagel Cafe operates Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
