The people behind popular Somerville taqueria Taco Loco are opening a new taqueria in Medford, Boston Restaurant Talk recently reported, and an employee at Taco Loco confirmed the news to Eater but had no information regarding a potential opening timeline.
The new restaurant, Picante Taqueria, will occupy the space left vacant by Pranzi’s (352 Boston Ave., Medford), a pizza place that closed earlier this year. The property is located just down the street from the Tufts University campus.
Picante’s nascent Facebook page promises “authentic homemade Mexican and Tex-Mex food,” and there’s a menu up already: Customers can expect tacos, burritos and burrito bowls, tortas, quesadillas, chicken flautas, and several other items.
Picante Taqueria will join Tenoch Mexican as another option for tacos in Medford — not to mention the forthcoming sit-down restaurant from the Tenoch team — and will add to a growing list of taquerias in the Greater Boston area.
Eater has reached out to Jessica and Edgardo Morales — who, per corporate filings, are behind the spot — and will update this story as more details emerge.
