With spring finally in full swing, restaurants are celebrating by introducing brunch service. Among them, Fat Baby in South Boston introduces its new menu on Saturday, May 19, and will hereafter offer items like egg bao and cheesy ramen alongside cocktails and sake on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
From the same team behind Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar, Fat Baby also has ties to Lincoln Tavern and Capo through restaurateurs Eric Aulenback and Michael Conlon. Lincoln — which serves brunch every day of the week, including a special “brunch test kitchen” menu on Fridays — has long been known for its epic brunch dishes, like its fully loaded Fruity Pebbles pancakes. Now, Fat Baby, which focuses on sushi at night, joins the mix with a brunch that hops around the globe, including some sushi and a whole lot more.
Here’s the menu:
And that’s not all on the brand new brunch front. Over in Boston’s South End, Bootleg Special, which opened earlier this year serving up Cajun-inspired seafood, begins brunch service this weekend as well. It begins this Sunday, May 20, but after this weekend, it’ll take place every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Bootleg brunch menu is meant to be shared. “Our concept is to create a ‘brunch social’ between friends,” co-owner Stephen Chan told Eater.
Dishes include souffle pancakes, bananas Foster French toast, grilled cheese with lobster and crab, shrimp and grits, and fried green tomatoes. True to form, the restaurant will also offer mussels with assorted sauces and fries.
