A Hingham-based gelato company just debuted a new shop in Boston’s Seaport District, and there’s something for everyone. Gelato & Chill previewed its wares on Tuesday, May 15 — with people lined up for free gelato as far as the eye could see — and will continue to operate within the neighborhood’s Innovation and Design Building (19 Drydock Ave.), serving a variety of gelato flavors, including vegan and dairy-free sorbet options.

The flavors from Gelato & Chill include milk and cream-based varieties like stracciatella, matcha green tea, hazelnut, and tiramisu, while sorbet flavors include mango, raspberry, strawberry, blood orange, chocolate with habañero pepper, and chocolate with beet root. Several of the sorbets are vegan, nut-free, and gluten-free.

The company emphasizes its use of fair-trade, local, and seasonal ingredients and does not use palm oil, high fructose corn syrup, additives, or emulsifiers in its recipes. Plus, its spoons, cups, and napkins are compostable and biodegradable.

Gelato & Chill is open on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Joining it at the Innovation and Design Building later this year: Ted Kilpatrick and John DaSilva’s Chickadee (opening this summer) and Flour Bakery & Cafe (opening this fall).
