A changing of the guard occurs this week at a tea shop in Charlestown. Evy Tea has closed down its 1 Monument Ave. storefront, which opened eight months ago, and now Charlestown Tea & Treats has taken its place. It opens today, April 25, per posts on the venue’s Facebook page.
Tracy Zimmerman took over the space and redecorated this month. Per Zimmerman’s LinkedIn page, the shop features “flavorful teas from around the world and scrumptious treats that will surely make your grandmother smile.”
Charlestown Tea & Treats’ Instagram page indicates that the shop serves bagels from Levend Bagelry, which is based at Boston Public Market downtown.
Following its debut today, Charlestown Tea & Treats will operate Tuesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., at least for the spring, and it may have a tiny four-seat patio once weather permits.
Evy Tea, meanwhile, has not left the neighborhood permanently; it now operates a wholesale and manufacturing facility at 50 Terminal St. (near the newly opened Bacon Truck Cafe). Evy Tea also has its older tea shop in Jamaica Plain, although it is currently closed for renovations. It’s expected to reopen this spring; keep an eye on Instagram for updates.
