A beer hall and taqueria are collectively on their way to the area near Symphony Hall, and the folks behind the double venue already have a long history running both beer and taco establishments in Boston. Brian O’Donnell and the Dropkick Murphys’ Ken Casey are on the verge of unveiling both Two Saints Tavern and Dos Diablos (52 Gainsborough St., Fenway), per the Improper Bostonian.

This is far from the first collaboration from O’Donnell and Casey, who’ve taken over the former Our House East space for this new project, as Boston Restaurant Talk reported. They also operate Yellow Door Taqueria and Lower Mills Tavern in Dorchester, Lion’s Tail in the South End, and McGreevy’s in Back Bay, and now — along with partner Chuck Hitchcock — they are ready to launch their newest venture. Two Saints Tavern will take on the role of beer hall, while Dos Diablos will go the Mexican route with tacos, ceviche, and more. Both are slated to open in May.

Hitchcock told the Improper that the group wanted to bring both a “fun dive bar feel” and a local hangout to the neighborhood, and the dual concept allows them to do both. Yellow Door, Lion’s Tail, and Lower Mills Tavern designer Taniya Nayak was once again called upon to outfit Two Saints and Dos Diablos, according to a rep for the restaurants. Two Saints has even carried over a design element from Our House East, a mural of Rosie the Riveter from local artist Joseph Koury.

The beer hall will reportedly be a more laid back experience, with the taqueria on the slightly more dramatic side, with black chandeliers and stained glass. It’s a popular design choice: Eater Boston’s 2017 restaurant design award winner Lolita Cocina & Tequila Bar features red chandeliers and stained glass at its Fort Point location.

Two Saints will be open seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 2 a.m., offering eight tap lines and accompanying small bites like salted pretzels and chicken parm sandwiches. Dos Diablos, on the other hand, will serve as a more of a dinner spot, opening at 4 p.m. and offering menu items like pork carnitas tacos, ceviche, and cocktails. Executive chef Andrew White (previously of Summer Shack and Church) will oversee the menus for both spaces.

Stay tuned for more specifics on the menus and an opening date for both spots.
