Pikaichi will be back in business tomorrow, this time in Medford, several months after vacating its original home in Allston. The popular shop closed down in December 2017, citing a rent hike, with owner Taka Akatsu later announcing a move to 123 Boston Ave. in Medford, the former Emiliano’z Mexican Grill space.

After documenting some of the buildout on Facebook, Akatsu has now announced that the restaurant will open on Wednesday, April 18, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for lunch and 5 to 8:45 p.m. for dinner.

Pikaichi had operated in Allston at 1 Brighton Ave. (the same building as Super 88) for seven years before its closure last year. It specialized in shoyu, miso, and shio ramen, in addition to donburi rice bowls and curry dishes. Its new home in Medford is accessible by bus from Boston proper, and there is also free two-hour street parking nearby.

Consult Facebook for the April business hours — Pikaichi will only be open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday this month, serving lunch and dinner each day that it’s open.
