A Shuttered Mission Hill Pizzeria Is Back in the Neighborhood

Il Mondo has taken over the former Grub space

Il Mondo Pizzeria returned to the Brigham Circle section of Mission Hill yesterday, reported Boston Restaurant Talk, opening in the space once occupied by a poutine shop called Grub (738 Huntington Ave.), which closed last October after a brief run. Grub was a sibling to another pizzeria in the neighborhood, Penguin Pizza, which remains open at 735 Huntington Ave. (While Il Mondo is more of a takeout joint, Penguin Pizza is a sit-down spot with beer.)

Il Mondo, a popular neighborhood slice and sub shop, had shuttered its original Mission Hill location (682 Huntington Ave.) back in December 2017. An employee at Il Mondo told Eater the shuttering was always meant to be temporary and that the plan was to reopen in the new space up the street.

This opening means that Il Mondo again has two locations in Boston: It expanded to 182 Massachusetts Ave., near Berklee College of Music, in December 2012.
