Jamaica Plain’s Centre Street is getting another Dominican restaurant, according to Jamaica Plain News: Delicias 100% Express plans to open at 660A Centre St. (directly across the street from J.P. Licks and right next door to Chilacates), about a 15-minute walk down the street from Pikalo, a Dominican empanada and sandwich joint that also has a location in Lawrence — and a second spot in the works right in JP.
Delicias 100% Express is a joint venture between Lewis Crespo and his restaurateur mother Civelis De Los Santos, the proprietor of 100% Delicias in Roslindale (635 Hyde Park Ave.)
Crespo told Jamaica Plain News that Delicias 100% Express will specialize in making cativias, cousins to empanadas. They’re a typical Dominican street food made with cassava flour, stuffed with various ingredients, and deep-fried. Crespo also mentioned snacks, smoothies, and other takeout-friendly items, noting that it’ll be a takeout-focused place, but there will be some indoor seating. The older Roslindale restaurant, on the other hand, is a full-service spot.
The menu at Delicias 100% Express will also include vegan and vegetarian options, ceviche, mofongo, and other Dominican treats. Centre Street is already a Caribbean feast, and this new spot will add to the party.
Stay tuned for updates on a potential opening timeline for Delicias 100% Express. Also, keep an eye out for the new location of Pikalo, slated to open this spring at 3160 Washington St. in Jamaica Plain’s Egleston Square.
And that’s not all: Santia’s Bakery could also open this spring at 3381 Washington St. in Jamaica Plain, per a City Realty banner ad running on Jamaica Plain News. The bakery is owned by Ruselly Pimentel Bello, who also appears to be connected to Santia Panaderia & Reposteria in the Dominican Republic and Santia’s Bakery in the Bronx. Santia’s Bakery’s Boston Facebook page is full of decorative cakes, cupcakes, and more.
