A restaurant group that runs several steakhouses, cafes, and a pizzeria in the Boston area will expand one of its concepts to include four locations. Caffe Strega, from the Varano Group, will open within the lobby at 99 Summer St., per Boston Restaurant Talk, citing a rendering from the local CKI Design Studio.
Caffe Strega already operates in three locations — on Northeastern’s campus, at Fan Pier in the Seaport, and in the South End near the Ruggles MBTA stop — but this will be its first coffee bar downtown. The shop serves coffee a variety of ways, including cold brew and nitro, fresh brewed, and in the form of espresso beverages. It also offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, running the gamut from spinach and feta croissants and bacon and cheese quiches to lunch sandwiches, salads, and entrees like eggplant parm and grilled salmon with vegetables.
The food for the cafes gets made in-house by chefs Farouk Bazoune and Alexandre Bonnefoi, who serve in executive roles at Strip by Strega, a member of the Varano Group, which also includes various restaurants under the Strega name, Nico, and Rina’s Pizzeria & Cafe. Stay tuned for an opening timeline for the newest Caffe Strega.
A new Caffe Strega is coming to 99 Summer Street soon. Such a pleasure working with CBT Architects, Inc. as they complete the major makeover of the building’s lobby and mezzanine level.
