Fast-casual Mediterranean food floods Boston’s Financial District today as a popular restaurant with two other locations in Cambridge’s Kendall Square and the Boston’s Seaport District expands. Aceituna Grill debuts its new home in the atrium of 100 Federal St., the Exchange building, on Friday, December 7, offering its full lineup of shawarma, falafel, and more.
Aceituna first opened about 15 years ago in Kendall Square and expanded to the Seaport early in 2017. With its expansion to the Financial District, it fills a demand the team has seen through providing catering to clients in the neighborhood. Aceituna’s counter-service establishment joins Blue Bottle Coffee in the glass atrium of the Federal Street building, with ample seating and a quick-service style.
The menu for Aceituna includes pita roll-ups, rice platters, and salads, all of which come with assorted shawarma, falafel, and options for sides from spicy potatoes to fattoush. The restaurant offers online ordering for easy pick-up on-site.
The open-concept atrium provides a communal space between Aceituna and Blue Bottle, and there’s more to come to the Financial District in that vein: A massive food hall is slated to open just next door at 160 Federal St. sometime next year, providing even more dining options.
Meanwhile, fast-casual Mediterranean options continue to sprout up elsewhere in and around Boston: Massachusetts’ fifth location of D.C.-based chain Cava debuted in Kendall a few weeks ago, Saloniki recently opened a new Harvard Square location, Greco will expand from Back Bay to the Seaport District in winter 2019, the Sufra food truck will soon open a restaurant in Fenway, and Bonapita is in the process of expanding from downtown Boston to West Roxbury.
