The latest addition to Somerville’s Bow Market has arrived: In Season Food Shop (1 Bow Market Wy.) debuted in part this past weekend, December 15, previewing some of its prepared food items. The grocery shelves will be stocked soon, full of local, seasonal produce and goods.
Co-founders Shane Clyburn and Bobby MacLean (who is also part of the team behind the Compliments food truck, which has been around since 2012) are serving a simple menu of grain bowls, salads, soups, and smoothies.
To start, breakfast items include roasted potatoes or corn grits topped with cheese, scallions, and a poached egg. Current lunch and dinner options include mac and cheese; a fall salad with apples and goat cheese; a winter squash soup; and a harvest bowl with potatoes or polenta and squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, and scallions.
“Our vision for In Season Food Shop is to remind visitors of a country farmstand, neighborhood deli, and corner bodega all at the same time,” the shop’s website reads. The shop plans to operate full days, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but hours are variable at the moment. Check social media for updates on official hours and the availability of grocery items as In Season heads into its first week in business.
The shop joins a growing list of other food vendors at Bow Market, which also includes a brewery, a wine bar, a pierogi shop, and lots more, including the recently opened vegetarian outpost of downtown fry specialist Saus, not to mention Eater Boston’s readers’ choice winner for Fast-Casual Restaurant of the Year, Hot Box, which serves North Shore-style roast beef sandwiches and South Shore-style bar pizza.
