A Back Bay restaurant known for its variety of Japanese dishes and its outdoor patio has closed its doors: Snappy Sushi (108 Newbury St., Boston) has officially closed after 15 years in business. The restaurant, which first opened in the early 2000s, previously operated a second location in Somerville’s Davis Square, which evolved into the ramen-focused Snappy Ramen and later transitioned to a new storefront on the other side of Davis Square with a new name, Snappy Kitchen, still focusing on ramen.
Snappy Sushi served a range of Japanese dishes, including maki rolls, ramen, donburi bowls, and steamed buns. The restaurant also offered regular lunch specials and served alcohol. A reason for the closure was not given.
Despite Snappy Sushi’s departure from the neighborhood, Back Bay still boasts a wide array of Japanese restaurants, including Yamato II, Uni, Love Art Sushi over by Berklee, and others.
Snappy Sushi’s Davis Square counterpart remains open.
