A new hot pot restaurant with ties to the West Coast has opened in Allston. Tasty Pot (194 Harvard Ave., Boston) is now open in the former In House Cafe space, bringing more than a dozen varieties of hot pot to the neighborhood.
Tasty Pot took over for In House Cafe in June, and fans have anxiously anticipated its opening, per several Yelp comments. The restaurant is one of a chain of hot pot restaurants with locations that stretch across California. There’s also a restaurant in Canada and a forthcoming one in Seattle. The Allston restaurant is the first Tasty Pot location on the East Coast. The restaurant joins a few existing hot pot restaurants in the area, including Pot Bar nearby on Brighton Avenue, along with Shabu Zen and Spring Shabu-Shabu.
The menu at Tasty Pot includes plentiful hot pot options with spice levels ranging from low to “flaming spicy.” Dipping ingredients include lobster balls, beef, cabbage, tofu, pork slices, vermicelli or rice, and further proteins or vegetables. For a post-hot pot treat, Tasty Pot also serves milk tea with boba, pudding, or jellies, making it another in a sea of bubble tea destinations in Allston.
Tasty Pot is open for lunch on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., closed from 3 to 5 p.m., and then open from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 11 p.m. Friday. It’s open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays.
